Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure to increase the size, improve the shape, or restore the volume of the breasts using implants, autologous fat transfer, or a combination of both.
An immediate change in breast size and shape is visible after surgery, though initial swelling takes several weeks to settle. Implants also take time to “drop and fluff” into their final position. The settled result is typically apparent by 3–6 months.

Breast augmentation is performed under general anaesthetic. Dr Williams selects the implant type (silicone gel), size, shape (round or anatomical), profile, and pocket placement (above or below the muscle) based on your anatomy, tissue characteristics, and desired outcome. A carefully placed incision — typically in the inframammary fold (beneath the breast) — allows the implant to be inserted into the prepared pocket. The incision is closed with dissolving sutures and a supportive surgical bra is applied. For patients seeking a more natural approach, autologous fat transfer (using your own fat) can be used alone or in combination with implants. Dr Williams’s subspecialist breast expertise ensures a precise, tailored approach to every augmentation.
Risks include capsular contracture (hardening of scar tissue around the implant), infection, bleeding, implant malposition, asymmetry, changes in nipple sensation (usually temporary), poor scarring, and the potential need for implant replacement in the future. All risks will be discussed in detail during consultation.
