A breast uplift (mastopexy) is a surgical procedure to lift and reshape breasts that are droopy or sagging due to ageing, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, or genetics, restoring a youthful position and contour.
Results are visible immediately, though the final shape refines over 6-12 months as swelling settles and tissues adjust. Scars (around the areola and, depending on technique, extending vertically and/or horizontally) fade significantly over time.

A one-time procedure with long-lasting results
Mastopexy is performed under general anaesthetic. Dr Williams selects the most appropriate technique based on the degree of ptosis — periareolar (around the areola only), lollipop (around the areola and vertically down), or anchor pattern (around the areola, vertically, and along the inframammary fold). Excess skin is removed, the breast tissue is reshaped and lifted, and the nipple-areola complex is repositioned to a youthful height. Where additional internal support is needed, Galaflex mesh may be recommended to provide an internal scaffold during healing and stimulate long-term collagen support. The skin is closed with dissolving sutures and a supportive surgical bra is applied.
Risks include bleeding, infection, asymmetry, changes in nipple sensation, poor scarring, wound healing complications, bottoming out, and the potential need for revision. All risks are discussed during consultation.
